Celebrating MIMEH's First Anniversary

Author: Stacy Gallin    Published: October 25, 2016    1 Comment

On October 25, 2015, we publicly launched the Maimonides Institute for Medicine, Ethics and the Holocaust (MIMEH) with a mission to explore the ethical implications of the medical transgressions that took place during the Holocaust for modern scientific theory, medical practice, healthcare policy and human rights endeavors. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to develop new and innovative educational programming in order to deliver our message to the widest audience possible.  Our first year was one of rapid growth and accomplishment, including:

  • Four free webinars in which participating physicians, nurses and pharmacists earned Continuing Medical Education credits
  • International symposia held in Budapest, Prague and Kiev, as well as local programs in New Jersey, New York, Washington, D.C., and California
  • The development of collaborative relationships with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Ukrainian National Bioethics Committee, the World Medical Association and the National Museum of Medicine in Kiev
  • Program reach of over 500 people in countries including Israel, Peru, Czech Republic, Mexico, Hungary, Spain, New Zealand, Ukraine, Chile and Canada

We are working hard on developing our 2017 slate of programming, which we are proud to announce will focus on commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Doctors' Trial and the publication of the Nuremberg Code.

None of this would have been possible without our supporters.  As we celebrate our first anniversary, we would like to take a moment to thank each and every person who has believed in our cause and joined our mission to create a Righteous Medicine that values the dignity of human life above the promise of scientific progress.  We thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to expanding our audience while continuing to provide low-cost, quality programming that emphasizes the importance of reflecting on the past in order to protect the future.
